A Mediterranean Beauty
This project has been a labor of love, patience, and reward for the current owners for the last 23 years. It was designed and implemented in four phases over 8 years. The homeowners wanted to recreate a genuine Tuscan feel with an Ohio twist. A specimen Bloodgood Japanese Maple, Redbud, and several Norway spruce which were original to the homes landscaping. The front drive stamped asphalt drive was replaced with a decorative chip-seal bordered by authentic Belgian block. The concrete front walk, steps and stoop were replaced with Chilton irregular flagging with the addition of flagstone paths leading to the back yard belvedere room and side garden. Low hedges were incorporated with red knock out roses (our clients favorite!) as well as Salvia May Nights. Urns and planters spill over with seasonal color during all 4 seasons.
The back yard was an overgrown mess! Our clients wanted to create a great entertainment space with a fireplace, bar, hot tub and sitting areas that would utilize a 3ft. grade change and connect to the existing Belvedere room. We used real stucco to match the existing house and had medallions cast from the house to use on the fireplace and walls.
An intimate gardenesque feeling was created using Prairie fire crab to act as a backdrop to contrast with the white finish. Great western arborvitae along with Emerald green arborvitae were planted to give the vertical elements that are typical of a Mediterranean villa. A fountain, birdbath, benches, as well as a wrought iron trellis for a wisteria vine were incorporated to create peace and tranquility.
