The Ridge
Perched on a hillside overlooking Ridge Ave, this 19th Century beauty was in much need of an exterior renovation. Several additions have been added over the years to the original 1830 structure leaving an awkward blend of Architectural styles which needed a Landscape design to both soften the hard elements and blend the old and new. Reclaimed stone steps were used on the new porch that were taken from the original stoop that had to be removed. The plantings are a result of the two requests that were paramount in the client’s wishes. English formal with ample boxwood hedges and simple monochromatic in color with a variety of texture. And Formal upright Plantings in scale with the height of the house that is coupled with the “top of the hill” placement. We used Slender Sillouette Liquid Amber trees for the slender height and Umbrella Catalpa trees for the formal foundation accent trees. Boxwood hedges, hydrangea, nepeta, aronia. And pachysandra are the main substance the garden.
