Description
In spring, the soft, pendant chartreuse leaves emerge with purplish-red fingernails (tsuma-gaki from Japanese means red nail). The summer color is dark green; the fall color is red. Shade is helpful to prolong spring colors. In time will form a small tree up to 10′ in height. The habit is upright-spreading. Protect from wind.
